Chainsaw Man: Denji Craved Maternal Love From Makima

Posted on

In an interview, Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto revealed that despite Denji’s many sexual impulses, he really craved motherly affection in Makima.

This is although Denji had many sexual encounters with Makima. The young man is incredibly innocent and bewildered by emotions he has never experienced; Makima recognized this fact early on and effectively used these characteristics.

She took advantage of the power differential between them to obtain Denji’s unquestioning allegiance, and he gave it to her because Makima knew she was what he desired.

Although it is clear that Makima is taking advantage of Denji from the audience’s perspective, Denji, regrettably, possesses a different level of awareness.

She makes a flippant comment about turning the demon hunter into her pet, exhibits a noticeable lack of respect for his autonomy, and persistently holds herself out to him as the maternal figure he desires.

The spectators are made acutely aware of the warning signs, yet this narrative focuses on Denji, as seen through his eyes.
