This famous quote wasn’t said for the first time by Kaneki. Yakumo Oomori, also known as “Jason,” a major lousy guy in Kaneki, came up with the idea. Jason was a cruel torturer who often wore a hockey mask, like the killer Jason Voorhees from horror movies. Jason had been tortured before the show showed the sick and twisted version of himself. Jason was tortured over and over while he was in jail. So he could get away from his real life, he told himself he was the one being afflicted. He finally killed the person who was torturing him and got out of prison.
This event hurt Jason for the rest of his life. He couldn’t stop thinking about horrible ways to harm his victims. When Jason caught Kaneki, he became one of these people. Jason tortured Kaneki by making him count down from 1,000 to seven. This would keep Kaneki’s mind from wandering and passing out from the pain. While Kaneki was being tortured, Jason’s order was said repeatedly, and it became a kind of mantra.
Why does Kaneki say that quote?
