With the start of the new season of Fortnite, developers realize that they can no longer support Windows 7 and 8 computers.

Epic Games has said it will no longer help people who play Fortnite on Windows 7 or Windows 8 computers. There’s no question that Fortnite has changed a lot over time. It’s a game that constantly gets maintenance patches, hotfixes, and content updates to keep it bug-free and as fun as possible for its fans.

After a few years, Fortnite has reached an entirely different level compared to its initial chapter. The Fortnite competitive scene and innovative game modes have reached new heights. Chapter 4: Season 2 was recently released, and in order to kick off the new season, the game had to undergo a significant update on all platforms.

Due to significant modifications to the terrain and the addition of the massive Point of Interest (POI) Mega City, this new season may place a heavy burden on some players’ computers. As Epic Games had said before, some changes would be needed to support older operating systems. This means that gamers who use Windows 7 or Windows 8 on their computers can no longer play Fortnite because the game no longer works with older operating systems.

There’s more than one way to play the game, so players who want to keep their systems the same don’t have to give them up. With Nvidia GeForce Now, Windows 7 and Windows 8 players can stream Fortnite and keep playing. Even though it won’t be precisely the same as using the game’s native support, it’s still a great alternative way to play it. Nvidia GeForce Now is a service that lets you stream games from the cloud. There are different membership plans available. This service even has a free version that gamers can try to see if they like before paying. Technology for games keeps getting better, giving players more and better ways to play their favorite games.

Some Fortnite players worry that the game might not work on consoles like the Xbox One and PS4, which are now considered “last-gen.” Both consoles can still play the game, but the new-gen versions have better performance and graphics, so there’s no doubt they’re better.

You can play Fortnite on your phone, computer, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox One X/S.
